A few weeks back I interviewed Claire Johnston on my radio show, little did I know I would be performing with her!
It was the first radio interview that I was properly nervous for. Like most great things, it came to fruition in a couple of hours and there I sat anxiously waiting for the correct time to call the leadsinger and face of one of South Africa’s most beloved bands.
She was as lovely on the phone as she is on stage. We chatted and laughed and she shared her most embarassing stage moments (No 1 was when she lost her dress on live tv!). After the interview I watched Mango Groove’s performance at Kirstenbosch and was blown away.
So of course, it was the most exciting thing when we realised that we might be able to open for Mango Groove. Similarly, the performance came to fruition in a couple of hours! The product of a cheeky call placed while we were on tour paid off and we found ourselves setting up at Vergenoegd Wine Estate on the 30th of December 2018. It was nothing less than an honour to share the same stage as Claire and her amazing band. The event was arranged by Goodluck Live and we thoroughly enjoyed performing and meeting the lovely audience.
