When it Rains

A song about how my life would be if music wasn’t an option and my dreams didn’t come true. From preschool I was brought up to believe that I could do anything. This song represents the first time I wondered what would happen if the someday that I’d imagined never came.

Like every day before she holds her eyes closed when they should open
Her coffee’s always cold before she turns the key

But when it rains she almost believes there’s something
Out there for her
And when it rains it’s not hard to believe
We could be anything

These lies they tell in preschool set you up to fail
And she was the girl who dreamt a someday that never came

But when it rains she almost believes there’s something
Out there for her
And when it rains it’s not hard to believe
Well, we could be anything

She walked a bit and then sat down as things got clearer
She called in sick to sit and watch the pavements shimmer

Cause when it rains she almost believes there’s something
Out there for her
And when it rains it’s not hard to believe
We could be anything
